What To Expect From An Accessories Trunk Show?
Raquel 10:33AM: We have all heard about the book "What to expect when you are Expecting?" right? Or at least I have. I have read that book inside and out for over 10 years. With 4 small children at home, I know how helpful it is in the middle of the night when something odd happens and you don't think it's important enough to call the doctor. Open up to page 97 and there it is. All of your questions and concerns answered. Whala!
Then I started to think about our brides and what questions go through their minds as they are planning their weddings. A few that came to mind was, What is an Accessories Trunk Show? Why should I go? How should I prepare? So I thought it might be helpful to give some insight to brides that have never attended an event like this and explain how important it is to go.
What is an Accessories Trunk Show?
An accessories trunk show is a special event hosted by either a bridal store or another host store such as our NY Flagship Salon. The designer collection that is being featured will either have the designer or a representative from the company present. Some trunk shows are product only events where the collection is on display only, and the consultants from the store work one on one with the bride. Many accessories event require an appointment to view the collection, while some stores are open to walk ins.

Why Should I go?
There are so many reasons to attend an accessories trunk show! First of all, it is fun!! Most brides attending an accessories trunk show have already purchased their gown and the accessories are the finishing touches to complete her look. But don't let the importance of accessories fool you. Accessories complete the entire look of not only the bride, but her bridal party as well. Let's say you go to a store that has a dozen or so pieces from our collection. You love the style, but there isn't a specific piece that is exactly what you are looking for. During a trunk show, you can expect to see 50 or more pieces from the newest collection. Not only will you have a much wider selection of pieces to choose from, but you may also have the benefit of working with the designer to have a custom piece designed specifically for you. Most stores also offer a discount for brides purchasing during a trunk show event which is another added bonus. However, most importantly, an accessories trunk show gives you an opportunity to focus on another layer of your personal style. You want your guests to recognize you for who you truly are. If you never wear jewelry, then go for subtle classic pieces. However, if you wear lots of jewelry on a daily basis, then this is the time to go all out. Your jewelry should also be pieces that you will want to wear again and again after your wedding.
What about my maids?
Many brides like a uniform look so that there is no distraction from her. Others, like myself, like to celebrate the individuality of their bridesmaids. Having coordinating jewelry will also help keep everyone looking and feeling like a cohesive group and also serves as a very special gift to your bridal party. We also make cufflinks for the groomsmen so they can also have a special gift that they can use again and again.
How Should I Prepare?
This may sound odd, but the first thing you should do to prepare is be ready to make a decision and place your order. The reason I say that is because the pieces are only at that store for a limited time. If you go in with the mindset just to look, if you fall in love with a piece you may not realize that the next time you go to the store that piece will no longer be there for you to see and try on. Additionally, you will lose the benefit of any special discounts. So before you go, be mentally ready to finalize your decision.
Think about how you will be wearing your hair. You don't have to know the exact style of your hairdo, but will it be all up? half up/half down? all down? These are the types of questions your consultant will be asking you. This will help to select which headpieces will work best with your hair type and style.
You do not need to be in your dress to decide on your accessories. Although being in your gown is great, your accessories really focuses on your face and your hair, so feel confident in making your selection if you are not able to have your dress on.
